The license in four lines

What “cleared” means here

01 · YES

Use it, free

YouTube videos and Shorts, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X and other social media. Twitch, YouTube Live and other livestreams, plus the VODs.

02 · CREDIT

One line, every time

“Music by Purrple Cat” with a link to purrplecat.com, in your description, caption or stream panel. The license is CC BY 4.0.

03 · NO CLAIMS

Not in Content ID

None of this music is registered with Content ID, so your uploads and streams won’t get claimed by it.

04 · NEVER

Not on streaming services

Don’t upload the music to Spotify, Apple Music or any other music streaming service, and no remixes, samples or covers there. Those uploads cause false Content ID claims for every creator using the music.

FAQ

Royalty-free music, answered

01Is this music really royalty-free?

Yes. You pay nothing, ever, and there are no per-use royalties. The music is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0), so the only condition is credit: “Music by Purrple Cat”.

02Can I monetize videos that use it?

Yes. You can use it in monetized YouTube videos and livestreams with the credit. The music isn’t in Content ID, so it won’t trigger claims.

03What if I get a claim anyway?

The music isn’t registered with Content ID. If someone has wrongly uploaded it to a streaming service, a false claim can happen; dispute it and mention the CC BY 4.0 license and purrplecat.com.

04Can I upload it to Spotify or make a remix?

No. Never upload the music to music streaming services such as Spotify or Apple Music, and no remixes, samples or covers there. That’s what causes false claims for everyone.

05Is royalty-free the same as copyright-free?

No. Royalty-free means you don’t pay royalties; the music is still copyrighted and comes with license terms. See our explainer.

06Who makes the music?

Purrple Cat, an independent lofi project with 500+ songs. Every track here is a full-length original.
